How to stay safe on social media platforms?
- Keep your profile private.
- Consider adding your picture to your profile because today anyone can view your profile picture and download it.
- Do not tag the location in the post.
- Only accept requests from people you know.
- Don’t accept requests from girls you don’t know because fake girls’ profiles can also be created.
- Do not share your personal information on social media with anyone you do not know.
- If someone harasses you or seems suspicious to you on social media, you can block him/her by using that application.
Important Note - Do not share your sensitive image with anyone as once shared or captured the image cannot be permanently deleted.
How to stay safe on other internet applications?
- Use HTTPS website instead of HTTP.
- Check the website domain properly.
- Enable 2-factor authentication if available.
- Create strong password, do not use you DOB, Mobile Number, Name, Pet Name etc.
- Do not click on any suspicious link.
- Downloads apps only from play store, apple store and app official website.
- Do not share your personal details while connecting to public Wi-Fi.
What to do if you fall into a scam?
- Don’t be afraid
- Report on cybercrime.gov.in portal or 1930 cyber helpline number.
- If you have any contact with the scammer then take a screenshot of it for proof whether there are chats or calls or anything.
- If someone criticizes you on social media then you must be need to report against him on that application.
