PM-VBRY Completes 1 Year: Over 72 Lakh First-Time Workers Enter Formal Workforce in India
What is PM-VBRY and What Milestone Did It Achieve in 2026?
The Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY) is India’s flagship Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme. Marking its first anniversary on August 1–3, 2026, official Ministry of Labour data confirms that over 72 lakh (7.2 million) young professionals entered the formal job sector with social security benefits during its inaugural year.
How Do First-Time Employees Benefit Under PM-VBRY Part A?
Under Part A of the scheme, first-time employees joining the organized sector and earning up to ₹1,00,000 per month receive a direct wage incentive equal to one month’s provident fund wage (capped at ₹15,000). Disbursed in two installments, the incentive encourages long-term workforce retention and financial literacy.
How Are Employers Incentivized to Create Net Additional Jobs?
Under Part B, employers expanding their headcount receive up to ₹3,000 per month per employee for two years. For labor-intensive manufacturing sectors, this employer incentive is extended into the third and fourth years, driving sustained hiring across manufacturing hubs nationwide.
First-time employees entering an EPFO-registered establishment with a monthly wage of up to ₹1,00,000 are eligible for the one-month wage incentive.
The incentive is transferred directly to the beneficiary’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) in two equal installments at 6 months and 12 months of service.
The Government of India has allocated ₹99,446 crore for the two-year implementation window to support 3.5 crore total jobs.
